RRRCORA

Rescue, Rehabilitation, Research, Conservation of Reptiles, Amphibians

When helping wildlife in need we treat each animal with the upmost importance.

What is RRRCORA?

This is a project through Swamp Girl Adventures that is directed by Kim Titterington that separates our fun educational entertainment from the blood, sweat and tears that goes in to saving lives!  Although education is key to help shape the future, we can do more to help preserve our natural world through RRRCORA!

Rescue

A large portion of our rescues is due to turtles and tortoises that have been struck by cars. We also see sick individuals as well as victims of dog chews or cruelty. We can't forgot our other scaled or amphibious friends like snakes and lizards, frogs & toads that we also treat. Getting these animals to us is always a challenge, and volunteers often help provide a helping hand!

Rehabilitation

When animals arrive in our care, we assess their situation, and the rehabilitation begins! Minor injuries can take days, while extensive injuries take months and require much more time and resources. The goal is for these animals to return to the wild to continue to thrive and support their species' next generation!

Research

With turtles being among the most endangered group of animals on earth, our goals are to help provide ongoing data collection vital to Florida wildlife's survival with a strong focus on reptiles and amphibians. We are in a unique position to collect and provide data since we see so many reptiles, including those protected, like the gopher tortoise!

Conservation

Conservation of all wildlife and natural areas is essential in our ever-changing world! Wildlife and their habitat continue to decline at a rapid pace. Our conservation goals are to save and preserve nature and provide safe areas for wildlife to thrive. One of our current conservation projects is to create a WAIF site for gopher tortoises and the 350 other species that rely on their burrows!

Why Reptiles & Amphibians?

Reptiles and amphibians are a unique and extremely diverse group of animals. Disease, habitat loss, human impacts all deeply affect both reptiles and amphibians. Treatment, protocols, and testing are different than with mammals. There is a need for more research and understanding of proper care rehabilitation and conservation. They may not be feathered or fluffy but play a very important role In our natural world and deserve the same amount of respect.
